Nissan Production, Sales and Export Results for June 2008 and the First Half of CY2008

TOKYO, July 29, 2008 – Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd., today announced its production, sales and export results for June 2008 and for the first half of calendar year 2008 (January-June period).



1. Production

June

Nissan’s global production grew 12.3% year-on-year to 309,688 units.

Export models from Japan such as the Rogue, Murano, X-Trail and the new Teana boosted domestic production to 118,771 units, exceeding the previous year by 33.3%.

Overseas production rose 2.3% year-on-year to 190,917 units, marking a record high for June.

In the U.S., production of the Maxima introduced at the end of June and Altima contributed to a production increase of 2.6% year-on-year to 48,354 units.

In Mexico, production rose 3.8% year-on-year to 43,823 units.

In the UK, production rose 6.2% year-on-year to 34,500 units.

In Spain, production decreased 31.5% year-on-year to 14,200 units.

Production in the General Overseas Markets* (GOM) rose 13.9% year-on-year to 50,040 units mainly due to demand for Qashqai in China, the Livina series in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and South Africa, and increased production of the Frontier Navara in Thailand.

First half: January-June
Nissan’s global production from January-June rose 11.3% year-on-year to 1,833,186 units.

In Japan, domestic production increased significantly by 31.8% year-on-year to 713,810 units due to increased exports of the Rogue, Infiniti EX and X-trail.

Overseas production rose 1.3% year-on-year to 1,119,376 units making a record high for the January-June period.

In the US, production fell 8.8% year-on-year to 313,628 units.

In Mexico, production fell 11.5% year-on-year to 221,335 units.

In the UK, production rose 20.5% year-on-year to 208,750 units.

In Spain, production fell 8.3% year-on-year to 107,961 units.

In the GOM regions, production rose 21.5% year-on-year to 267,702 units.

2. Sales

June
In Japan, Nissan’s vehicle registrations in June dropped 3.9% year-on-year to 49,044 units despite the strong sales of the new Teana and the X-trail. Nissan’s share of the domestic market registrations in June was down 0.1 percentage points year-on-year to 17.4%.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were down 0.1% from the previous year to 11,823 units.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 60,867 units in Japan, down 3.2% year-on-year. Market share was maintained at 13.6% compared to same month last year.

Global sales increased 0.3% to 322,780 units compared to the previous year.

Nissan sales in the U.S. fell 17.7% year-on-year to 75,847 units despite strong sales coming from the Versa (Tiida in Japan) and Rogue.

In Europe, sales dropped 1.6% year-on-year to 57,196 units despite strong performance seen with the Tiida and Qashqai.

Sales in the GOM regions were up 20.4% from the previous year to 104,313 units.

*US sales: -7.5% after equivalent adjustment for actual days of selling in June.

First half: January-June
In Japan, Nissan’s vehicle registrations in January-June rose 1.9% year-on-year to 313,900 units.

Market share of the domestic market for registered vehicles was up 0.5 percentage points year-on-year to 17.7%.

Sales of mini-vehicles in Japan fell 10.6% year-on-year to 75,653 units.

Total domestic sales including mini-vehicles fell 0.8% year-on-year to 389,553 units. The market share including mini-vehicles was up 0.2 percentage points year-on-year to 14.0%.

Global sales rose 9.7% year-on-year to 2,013,628 units.

Nissan sales in the U.S. fell 2.4% year-on-year to 522,321 units.

In Europe, sales increased 24.1% year-on-year to 340,803 units.

Sales in the GOM region increased by 23.8% year-on-year to 607,357 units, mainly from growth in China.

3. Japan Exports **

June
Nissan’s exports in June rose 25.5% year-on-year to 62,831 units.

Exports to North America rose 51.9% year-on-year to 25,472 units on the Rogue and the Murano.

Exports to Europe fell 18.0% year-on-year to 8,901 units.

Nissan’s exports to other regions rose 26.8% year-on-year to 28,458 units.

First half: January-June
Nissan’s exports in January-June rose 55.4% year-on-year to 407,626 units.

Exports to North America rose 81.2% year-on-year to 172,444 units.

Exports to Europe rose 19.9% year-on-year to 47,691 units.

Exports to other regions rose 47.1% year-on-year to 187,491 units.

* The GOM region combines all Asian, Latin American, Caribbean, African, Oceania and Middle East countries.
