Fiat Brazil to present electric Bugster Concept

SAO PAOLO, Brasil : October 21, 2008 - Fiat Automóveis will present at the 25th Salão Internacional do Automóvel, which is set to take place from 30 October up to 10 November in São Paulo, a brand new concept car, that has been dubbed the Bugster, and which has been totally developed by automotive engineering division of the Italian carmaking brand in Brazil.

Bugster is a vehicle that seeks to unite two concepts that are very relevant today, the environment and fun, as it is a rich mixture of ecologically-correct components as well as being a fun car to drive. Besides the futuristic design, the concept is fitted with a zero-emission producing electric engine, and its bodyshell is constructed using only natural fibres, renewable sources that have less impact on the environment, and nanotechnology to build lighter and more resistant pieces.

Fiat Automóveis' new Bugster vehicle project is a dramatic-looking starting point for the adoption of new solutions for mobility using alternative materials, commensurate with the philosophy of non aggression to the planet.

The bi-annually held Salão Internacional do Automóvel, now preparing for its 25th edition in 2008, is the most important event for the Latin American automotive industry, and this year it gains further prestige as it will make its debut in the OICA global motor show calendar, reserved for the most important shows. The event is expected to bring together some 30 global brands that will be showing off more than 400 individual models. Fiat Automóveis always presents a full model line up Salão Internacional do Automóvel and introducing a show-stopping concept car is nothing new either, during the last edition, held in 2006, the autonomous Brazilian division of Fiat Group presented the FCC Adventure, an original concept sports off-roader.
