Excellent international debut of the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse in the Race of Champions

Abarth 500 Assetto Corse

TURIN : Dec. 16, 2008 - An international debut of very high standard for the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse, raced by several champion drivers at the Race of Champions, held on Sunday 14 December at London’s Wembley Stadium in front of more than 46,000 spectators.

The Abarth 500 Assetto Corse was driven by champions of the calibre of Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard and Andy Priaulx, and proved decisive for getting the rally champion, Sebastien Loeb into the final and on to win the race.

With its 200 bhp and weight of 930 kg, the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse proved to be fast and stable, coping very well along the approximately 1 km track built in the stadium’s playing field.

Present at the event was Nicola Gullino, in charge of the Abarth sports programmes, who gathered the opinions of the drivers:

“It was a pleasure to see all these great drivers enthralled with our little Abarth. The car had no problems during the weekend, even though it was hammered for two days by so many champions”.

An excellent test run in view of the 2009 season, in which the Scorpion’s car will be engaged in the three single-brand trophies reserved for it.
