Toyota Boxes Clever With New Verso D-Cat 150 Automatic

2009 Toyota Verso

EPSOM, UK : August 11, 2009 - Toyota’s seven-seat Verso gains added dynamic appeal with the introduction of a 2.2 D-CAT 150 clean diesel engine with a slick, smooth and intelligent six-speed automatic transmission.

The powertrain, shared with Avensis, bears all the hallmarks of Toyota Optimal Drive technologies, delivering appealing performance with impressive smoothness, fuel economy and reduced emissions. Peak power of 148bhp is delivered at 3,600rpm and maximum torque of 340Nm is available from just 2,000rpm. Although acceleration from rest to 62mph is a fraction more than 10 seconds, official combined cycle fuel economy is 41.5mpg and CO2 emissions are 178g/km. Thanks to Toyota’s D-CAT system with its four-way catalyst and maintenance-free particulate filter, combined NOx and particulate emissions are ultra-low.

The six-speed automatic transmission adapts its shift pattern automatically in line with individual driving style and driving conditions, with smooth and quiet shifts. For a more engaging drive, the system has a Sport mode, and the driver can also opt to make manual gear shifts, using the shift lever or paddle controls on the steering wheel.

The 2.2 D-CAT 150 automatic in available in Verso TR and T Spirit grades. Both versions are fitted as standard with 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
