Sebastian Vettel was in a class of his own at Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday in the first race back after the August summer break. He was able to blast past Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes on the first lap of the Belgian Grand Prix and then controlled the race from there to the chequered flag to claim his fifth GP victory of the year and his second win at the historic Spa circuit, having previously won in Belgium in 2011.

The third hybrid model of the new S-Class, the S 500 PLUG-IN HYBRID, sets new benchmarks with regard to efficiency as well as drive-system and climate comfort. With 69 g CO2 per kilometre (3 litres/100 km) the S-Class sets a new benchmark for luxury saloons that just a few years ago was thought virtually impossible. The 80-kW electric drive with externally rechargeable battery makes emission-free driving for about 30 km possible. It is combined with the new 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged engine. Mercedes-Benz will present the S 500 PLUG-IN HYBRID at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). The market launch will be next year.

Volkswagen has released the first details of its powerful new Volkswagen Golf R, which is set to take to the stage at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.  With a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 300 PS and 280 lbs ft, and transferring its power to the road via the latest 4MOTION four-wheel drive system, the new Golf R is the fastest-accelerating production Golf yet, with a zero to 62 mph time of just 5.3 seconds (compared with 5.7 seconds for the previous model), or 4.9 seconds when fitted with the optional six-speed DSG gearbox.  Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.

NEW 2014 GT500 CLASS MACHINES UNVEILED AT SUZUKA!

In the morning of August 16th with the Round 5 Pokka Sapporo 1000km proceeding the next day, new model cars of Lexus (Toyota), Honda, and Nissan that will be fielded in next season’s GT500 class were unveiled at Suzuka Circuit. The new cars are built based on the same chassis and aerodynamics specifications as Europe’s popular racing series, “Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft,” and, with the GRAND-AM of the USA also planning to start a racing series aligned with the same specification in the future, the initiative is expected to facilitate globalization of motorsports by allowing mutual participations and inter-series racing by racing cars from different countries.

After 47 laps at the 3.629 kilometres long circuit in the Eifel, he crossed the finish line in first place. Augusto Farfus (BMW), who had started from pole position, finished second at the Nürburgring, 2.158 seconds down on Wickens.

TOKYO – August 16, 2013 – Lexus Racing announced a new race car based on the Lexus “LF-CC” that will compete in the Super GT Series GT500 class starting next season. The vehicle will replace the Lexus SC 430 currently used in Super GT races.

The Lexus LF-CC is a two-door coupe concept that debuted at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012. It features a dynamic exterior with an emphasis on aerodynamics and cooling performance.

2013 DTM : MIKE ROCKENFELLER WINS SUCCESSFUL DTM PREMIERE IN RUSSIA

With his second victory of the season, Rockenfeller extended his championship lead from defending champion Bruno Spengler (BMW), who remained without points for the first time this year after his 19th place finish.
