2012 FIA GT1 : Nogaro - Double Nogaro joy for Ortelli and Vanthoor

2012 FIA GT1 - Nogaro Winners : Stephane Ortelli / Laurens Vanthoor - #32 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT - Audi R8 LMS

WRT made it two out of two in the 2012 season today, when Stephane Ortelli and Laurens Vanthoor claimed victory in the first Championship race of the season, at Nogaro, in France.  Ortelli's last win in the FIA GT Championships was in 2007, at Nogaro, when he won the GT2 category with Gianmaria Bruni. Bright sunshine and big crowds, this first event of a new era saw the two Audi R8 LMS cars finish in first and second places, with Frank Stippler and Oliver Jarvis taking second.

2011 FIA GT1 : Perfect Weekend in Beijing for Young Driver Aston Martin


2011 FIA GT1 - Beijing Winners : Stefan Mücke / Darren Turner #8 Young Driver AMR - Aston Martin DB9

The Young Driver Aston Martin team completed a stunning double in a dramatic ninth round of the championship in Beijing. The combination of Darren Turner and Stefan Mucke in the No.8 car took the chequered flag in the Championship Race to record their first victory of the 2011 season. The result crowned a perfect two days for the German squad after Tomas Enge and Alex Muller in the No.7 car had taken the honours in the Qualifying Race earlier in the day.

2011 FIA GT1 : Marc VDS Ford cleans up in Ordos


2011 FIA GT1 - Ordos Round winners : Maxime Martin / Frederic Makowiecki #41 - Ford GT Matech

  • 20,000 visitors to the first FIA GT1 World Championship in China
  • First Championship Race Win of 2011 for Ford, Marc VDS, Maxime Martin and Fred Makowiecki, who win the 2011 Kangbashi Cup.
  • Double Top 3 finish for Peter Dumbreck and Richard Westbrook
  • JR Motorsports take lead in the Team’s Championship
  • Lucas Luhr and Michael Krumm retain Driver’s Championship lead despite a disappointing weekend.
  • First podium finish for Clivio Piccione and Stef Dusseldorf since they won Round 1 in Abu Dhabi.
ORDOS, China : September 4, 2011 : Fred Makowiecki and Maxime Martin in the Nr41 Marc VDS Ford GT completed the double at Ordos International Circuit with victory in the Championship Race to add to their Qualifying Race success the previous day. Over 15,000 spectators packed the main straight grandstand and lined the grass banks of the Inner Mongolian circuit to witness the first instalment of GT1's Chinese triple-header. The total weekend attendance was put at over 20,000 marking an impressive debut for the championship in China.

2011 FIA GT1 : Hexis Aston Takes the Spoils in Germany

2011 FIA GT1 Sachsenring - Winners : Christian Hohenadel / Andrea Piccini - Hexis AMR - Aston Matin DB9

SACHSENRING, Germany : May 15, 2011 - Andrea Piccini and Christian Hohenadel took their Hexis Aston Martin No.4 to victory in the Championship Race at Sachsenring. The Hexis pair started from fifth on the grid and stayed clear of a spate of early incidents to secure their first win of the 2011 season. Second place went to the No.37 All-Inkl Münnich Motorsport Lamborghini of Dominik Schwäger and Nicky Pastorelli while third was the Young Driver Aston Martin No.8 of Stefan Mücke and Darren Turner.

2011 FIA GT1 : Nissan conclude dominant weekend in Portugal with another win

2011 FIA GT1 - Round 3 Algarve Winners : Lucas Luhr / Michael Krumm - Nissan GT-R - JR Motorsport

ALGARVE, Portugal : May 6, 2011 - Lucas Luhr and Michael Krumm made it a double success for Nissan with victory in the Championship Race at Portimao. Stefan Mucke and Darren Turner in the Young Driver Aston Martin No.8 got the better of an absorbing battle for second place from the Sumo Power Nissan GT-R No.21 of Jamie Campbell-Walter and David Brabham.
