Mazda revealed the all-new Mazda MX-5 this morning to an exclusive audience in Barcelona and simultaneously around the world at two similar events in Japan and the U.S. The MKIV model, which features a distinctive adaptation of the KODO – Soul of Motion design, received a very warm reception from around 250 media in attendance. It will go on sale in Europe in 2015.

LEVERKUSEN : July 30, 2013 - On July 26, 2013, a diesel powered Mazda6 won the Grand-am-Brickyard in the GX class with the Mazda6 and its SKYACTIV-D Clean Diesel engine. Mazda was the only entry in the race with a diesel engine. Mazda’s victory was the first win for a diesel car in the history of the legendary racecourse. Sylvain Tremblay took the lead in the three hour race and steered the winning Mazda6 over the finish line.

HIROSHIMA, Japan : July 5, 2013 - Mazda Motor Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony today at the construction site of its new transmission plant in Thailand's Chonburi province, Mazda Powertrain Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (MPMT). Approximately 50 people attended the ceremony including Senior Executive Investment Advisor from the Thailand Board of Investment, Ajarin Pattanapanchai; Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, Verapong Chaiperm; President of Kajima Corporation, Mitsuyoshi Nakamura; Mazda's Representative Director and Vice Chairman of the Board, Seita Kanai and the president of MPMT, Hidenori Kawakami.

MAZDA TO BUILD TRANSMISSION PLANT IN THAILAND

HIROSHIMA, Japan : January 30, 2013 - Mazda Motor Corporation will construct a transmission plant with an annual production capacity of approximately 400,000 units in the Chonburi Province of Thailand representing an investment of 26 billion yen. Mazda has decided to establish the plant in order to respond to increasing demand for models featuring SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY and to strengthen its global production footprint. Operations at the new plant will commence in the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2016.

The CX-5 is to be launched in the crossover SUV market, which is growing all around the world, and will become a core model in the Mazda lineup. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (including taxes) ranges from 2,050,000 yen to 3,190,000 yen, and the sales target in Japan is 1,000 units per month.

HIROSHIMA : February 9, 2012 — Mazda Motor Corporation has developed, jointly with Japan Polypropylene Corporation, resin material for vehicle parts that maintains the same rigidity as parts made with conventional materials while achieving significant weight reduction. Using this material, the parts manufactured are thinner than those using conventional resin, resulting in a significant reduction in the resin required to manufacture parts.

Mazda2 local assembly to commence in Vietnam

HIROSHIMA : August 30, 2011 — Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that it will commence local assembly of the Mazda2 in Vietnam in October 2011. The Mazda2*1 will be produced at a newly-constructed assembly plant owned by Vina Mazda Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd*2 in the Nui Thanh district of Quang Nam province. Sales of the locally assembled Mazda2 in Vietnam will also begin in October 2011. Mazda expects the Mazda2 to become one of its mainstay products in the Vietnamese market and plans to produce approximately 2,000 units per year.

Mazda began taking pre-orders today for the facelifted Mazda Demio (known overseas as the Mazda2) at all Mazda, Mazda Anfini and Mazda Autozam dealers throughout Japan. Manufacturer's suggested retail prices (including taxes) range from 1,149,000 yen to 1,621,750 yen. The sales launch is scheduled for June 30, 2011.

Mazda3 global production reaches three million units

HIROSHIMA, Japan : May 26, 2011. Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that cumulative production of the Mazda3 reached three million units on 26 April 2011. This milestone was achieved in just seven years and ten months since production of the first-generation model commenced, making the Mazda3 the fastest-selling model in Mazda’s current line-up of passenger vehicles. The Mazda3 is a true global model. It is produced at three locations - Mazda’s Hofu Plant in Yamaguchi, Japan (where all European models are produced), the Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA) plant in Nanjing, China; and AutoAlliance Thailand (AAT) - and sold in approximately 90 countries and regions*. The three-millionth Mazda3 was produced at the Hofu Plant. It is a Japanese-specification five-door hatchback with Mazda’s MZR-2.0L engine, i-stop and a Crystal White Pearl Mica exterior.
