Toyota GT86 Rally version to start at Rally Germany

COLOGNE : July 30, 2014 - The new Toyota GT86 CS-R3, visitors and spectators of the ADAC Rally Germany for the first time in action: The rally version of the sports car starts at the ninth round of the World Rally Championship from August 21 to 24 as a forward vehicle outside the standings.


The first public appearance uses the Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) for test drives. The former double World Rally Champion and factory driver Isolde subjects the rear-drive prototypes around Trier an ultimate endurance test. 274 km it goes on floor, stone and asphalt, a total of 18 stages are completed. Holden Ried, which has already helped in the development of the Yaris R1A, focuses on the final vote of the GT86 CS-R3.

As a relatively low-cost rally car of the GT86 R3 satisfies the regulations of the FIA. In addition to a sequential 6-speed gearbox, limited slip differential and revised brake system and the wiring harness and the control unit have been specifically adapted to the rallying. The chassis changes include Aufhängungskits for gravel roads and asphalt runways and special wishbone. The roll cage was optimized for weight and already homologated by the FIA.

The GT86 CS-R3 is available as a kit from the first quarter of 2015, prices will be announced at a later date.
